2012 Reflection

Netbook
This year was awesome, people were happy  and most of all they enjoyed learning. Kids made it into different sports and inter-school teams. All the terms were exciting.

The year 7's all got a chance to participate in the cricket inter-school. The year 7’s went to technology at Tamaki College  for the first time, every Mondays. We had to design 5 posters.

Term two the year 7’s moved on to food tech. Everyone made delicious biscuits and on the last day we made a smoothie, because everyone was begging Mrs.Heka.  The thing that I liked about food technology was making different types of biscuits that are easy for you to make at home.

I think term three was the best because we had a blue light disco. The one thing that was awesome about this term was the first ever blue light disco. Rooms 9, 11 and 12 all got invited to the disco. I liked how Mrs.Barry decorated the hall and I think she did a great job.

The last term there was so much happening like the Film Festival, athletics, halloween party and a lot more.

But the best thing of all about this year was our NETBOOKS. The NETBOOKS helped us with our learning and made our grades go up. Without these NETBOOKS we wouldn’t be able to search anything on the internet or do our work on Google Docs.

I am looking forward for our class party tomorrow, concert day on Wednesday, Mcdonald's on Thursday and last day of school is NO WORK DAY, known as activity day. Well that’s the end of 2012.

Talented

Ever since we received our Netbooks our learning has got twice as better then before. It helps
us with our learning and makes us very smart.  I think that the Netbooks are good to use
and if you are struggling with school work it can help you. Our Netbooks help us share our learning and this is why we made our movie to share all the learning at Glen Innes School.
Do you know how to dance, sing or do you have a different talent? This is a great opportunity
for you to audition in G.I.S Got Talent. Every year kids to show off their talents. If you win, you get a prize. Want to know more bout the winners? Then watch the movie and listen carefully.

The land of Horroween!

Knock knock went someone's little grubby hands. As I opened the door quietly, a little mischievous boy shouts out “trick or treat”. Sorry we have no lollies at the moment I say in a sleepy voice and yawn. “Give me some lollies” the boy says in an angry voice. I slam the door as hard as a hammer knocking a piece of wood.

Ohh... ohh.. ahh... What is that creepy voice? It’s giving me the
goosebumps. I ran as fast as a cheetah and hid under my bed. Under my bed it was pitch black. “Oh no it’s that creepy little boy. He’s a ghost and he is as white as Dracula’s face.

I was so scared that I felt like I was
frozen. When the mysterious noises stopped, I crept out of my bed and went down stairs. I had no idea what would happen or what was down there. “Boo! ahh...” I screamed my head off. I ran twice as fast up the stairs and back under my bed.

The door of my bedroom
slammed open and someone lifted up my blanket and saw me. I didn’t know what to do. “Happy Halloween” and I had vanished to a mysterious land called Horrorween. It was a kind of place you wouldn’t wanna go there because it’s just full of monsters, mummies and many more. For a minute there I thought they were just wearing costumes.

I was just strolling through the street when...
Boo! Who are you? I said. My name is Boogie Man says the ghost. How can I get out of here? You can’t,you're stuck here for ever and ever until you die. NO! I am gonna find a way out of here.

I am thinking. I have no ideas.
“Please, please help me get out of here”. I don’t wanna stay here my whole entire life time. I was huffing as if I was a dog because I didn’t know what to do. It was like my brain was switched off instead of on. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t find a way to get out of Horrorween.

“Wake up, wake up get out of bed, stop wasting time”.
What! What do you want? You're late for school. I was having a terrible dream about monsters. It’s Halloween today says my brother. Oh that’s why.

Crazy rides at Rainbow's End

Many people haven't been to Rainbow's End but they want to go. If you go you will have a lot of fun. As much as I did.  I  have been to many different places, but I'd have to say that the place I have been to has to be Rainbow's Ends .

That was the best day of my life.

The first time I went on the Pirate Ship, I was holding on to my sister tight as a koala holding on the tree. The most fascinating ride was the invader. It went as high as my school roof . I was as scared as a cat being chased by a crow, but my sister Maylene was screaming her head off. I was laughing like a clown.

Have you been on the Fear Fall? Well I have and I would have to tell you tell you
to say to you that was scary. When you come down you get butterflies in your stomach.
I was freaked out like a saw scary person. I wish I could go to Rainbow's Ends again.

Ecstatic

Today is the last day of school. It's time for us to celebrate. No more school and no more waking up in the morning. Hip hip hooray! Time for us to have a holiday.Room 12 is so ecstatic to be finally be getting a break from school. Hope fully we have a wonderful holiday. I am really happy to get two weeks off. Time to relax and forget about um.... what? Looks like I have already forgotten. Now the journey has began. Have a safe holiday and have fun.

Major earthquake!

Have you ever been in an earthquake? Well if you have then you will have had a bad experience .  If you haven’t, then you don’t know what it feels like.

It’s just so sad for the people who need help but there is no one to help them. Hundreds and thousands of people have died in the past few years because of earthquakes.

Why do earthquakes happen? Well I know it’s something to do with plates moving. No, not dinner plates, the rock plates inside our earth. I wish that nothing bad would happen to anyone because it’s just too sad. Earthquakes shouldn’t happen at all then everyone would be safe and sound.

Earthquakes have struck a few times in New Zealand, but mostly in Christchurch.
There has never been a major earthquake in Auckland, but I am sure an earthquake will come, unexpectedly.

Have you practiced an earthquake drill before? Well Glen Innes School has; so if an earthquake happens we all know what to do.
Do you know?  It’s Drop, cover and hold. So if you are in an earthquake remember these three things you should do.

Just remember DROP, COVER AND HOLD!

Surprise!

Do you want to have a music and art centre? Well Today, we were invited to share our ideas for the Glen Innes Music and Art Centre. It was a great opprutunity to share our ideas with Debbie the Landscaper, Jo The Sustainability, Lindsay main Architect and Venessa from Auckland City Council.
When we got the chance to write down our ideas; Sameera, Enosi, Devonn, Alisi and I decided to work all together in a group, to make it easier. Our group had a lot of great ideas, but overall Devonn's idea was the best. I won't tell you what it is, because it's a surprise.
I will tell you a secret! Mrs.Barry (my teacher) she wrote on our paper and ruined it, she wrote "Longa did this", but actually Mrs. Barry did it. Don't tell her I told you. Then we talked about sustainability, which basically means something that can help the environment to be better.  I learnt a lot of new things and I am sure the other people have too. A few minutes later, it was time to go. I had a great time and I  can't wait for the next one!

Delicious Soup

Last week, we made delicious soup. Everyone in Room 12 had a turn at peeling potatoes, cutting potatoes and leek. It was a great experience for Room 12, to feel what it's like to make soup.
There were two types of soup, they were pumpkin and potato soup. I wasn't too confident on eating the potato soup, but when I tried it I liked it so much. I am glad I tried it. When I finished the potato soup, I was full as. Some people didn't like it, but most of them did.
Thank you so much to Mrs. Lammas , Mrs Pat and all the other people, that helped to make soup for Glen Innes
Soup is another healthy thing for you, especially when you are sick or not feeling well.

I love puppies!

Snoopy
Girly
Do you like puppies? Well I absolutely adore puppies. Do you know why I love puppies? It's because I grew up with a puppy called Spot. Spot is about 8-9 years old. I like Spot because he is kind to me and plays with me. Also because my brother Jamie  has two labador, red nose, part German shepherd  puppies named Snoopy and Girly. They are brother and sister, which makes it better for them to communicate much better also play together in a friendly way. Sometimes they can annoy me by crying. Did you know that puppies cry? Well I didn't know until they started crying. But you can get used to it. Puppies are just great to own because you can have a lot of fun and when they grow up you can take them for walks. I enjoy playing with Spot, Girly and Snoopy. I am sure if you have a puppy or puppies, you will enjoy playing with them as much as I do.

"Yummy! Scrumptious!"

Fruit and veges are the best,
I'll show you and give you a test!
You should eat and eat fruit and veges 5 plus a day.
To keep you strong and fit all day.
If you eat the right food.
You will always be in a good mood.

"Yummy, Scrumptious" that's what my delicious sandwich tasted like. In my sandwich I had carrot, cheese, cucumber, lettuce, ham, and tuna mixed with apples. I wouldn't have even got the chance to create my sandwich, but thanks to Mr. Naidoo who went down to Pak'n Save and asked them to sponsor GLEN INNES SCHOOL by providing our school with nutritious and healthy food. I know Glen Innes School appreciates what Pak'nSave has done for us.

Do you want to try something new?
Well cut some apples up and mix it up with some tuna.
I know what your thinking, your thinking that's just disgusting.
But when you taste it, you will be like mmm... this is lovely.
If you want, you can add lemon juice, salt and pepper because that's what Mr Hendricks did.
And you will want heaps more.
It's just great for kids lunches, I am sure they will LOVE IT!
